Vinification: Grapes were pressed whole bunch and the juice was taken to old French oak for spontaneous fermentation. Colombard and chenin blanc were co-fermented. The chenin blanc is from our neighbouring farm, Remhoogte, and the block directly overlooks the river from the opposite bank to our colombard.
Tasting notes: Crispy, autumny aromas of wheat straw, citrus preserves and toffee apple with a fresh minerality on the nose. Gentle entry of dried fruits & freshly baked bread sticks; fresher mandarin and kelpy salinity of chenin meets the rounded, creamy mouthfeel and tangy appleskin acidity of colombard. Beautiful integration between fruit, wood and acidity.
